As admirers of the stars and the allure of the universe, Clean Carats is known for weaving celestial magic into every ring. Each piece is intimately designed and handcrafted by our two pairs of hands – alchemising recycled precious metals, Aotearoa river gold, and carefully curated gemstones into one-of-a-kind jewels.

  • Beyond the ordinary lies a realm of magic and wonder. Each Clean Carats piece is designed with an intentional blend of celestial elements, natural influences, and elevated craftsmanship to create rings with a distinct flavour that can only found here.

  • From the moment we first began, focusing on sustainability and ethical practices has always been at the heart of Clean Carats. Our gold is largely recycled, or alluvial – local gold that flows through the rivers in the South Island collected through low-impact operations. Our diamonds and sapphires are sourced directly from mainly family run mines and artisanal gem cutters whose ideologies align with ours. Through these tight-knit relationships, we are able to handpick unique stones that other makers don’t have access to – which is why a lot of our rings feature sapphires and diamonds rarely seen elsewhere.

  • Clean Carats began as a passion project and remains an intentionally small, hands-on studio practicing slow-making and elevated craftsmanship. Alex and Sam spend their time doing what they love - working side by side at their workbench, scattered with gold dust and precious stones and nestled in the New Zealand coastline.
